YUP Coffee Roasters is a family-run roastery and cafe overlooking the picturesque Mill River in Florence, Massachusetts, just minutes from downtown Northampton. We roast on a custom-built, fully manually adjustable double-walled drum roaster from Portugal. It roasts in small batches – about 30 pounds at a time – which means we can give lots of love and attention to every roast.

The double-walled drum design helps prevent bean scorching, while chaff is continually whisked away during the roasting process, avoiding burnt, bitter, or ‘off’ flavors. Manual roasting offers us full control over a number of variables, such as airflow, temperature, and drum speed, during every stage of the roast. This allows us to customize a roast profile to the unique characteristics of each bean varietal and crop, delivering a wonderful nuance, complexity, and depth of flavor in the final product—the coffee in your cup!

We carefully select high quality, single origin beans on a seasonal basis from farms practicing social and environmental responsibility. All of our coffees are organic and either certified fair trade or from farmer cooperatives. Manual roasting in small batches allows us to bring out the full flavor and complexity each coffee varietal has to offer. We develop beans to perfection based on their unique profiles, without over roasting. The result? A cup of coffee that will make you want to close your eyes with every sip and say, "Mmmm!"
